Mommy Porn is No Better than Daddy Porn

I read a fantastic article on the phenomenon of "50 Shades of Gray" and "Magic Mike". I share the same disbelief that women everywhere that claim to follow Christ would indulge in these types of entertainment. There seems to be this sort of movement of women saying, "if men are allowed, so are we!", instead of standing against the very things that breaks the heart of God. Sure, men all over the world have become ensnared in the tangled web of pornography. Do I think that's any more wrong than women being involved in the same thing? No, of course not. I do know though, that because of the incredibly high demand for pornography, young women and even girls are being enslaved to supply that very demand. If we choose to begin a new revolution of sex-for-sale with women in mind, are we going to be OK when the same number of boys end up trapped across the earth as there are girls because of our sinful means of entertainment? That's the reality of this situation. I have a young daughter so I fight for justice for these young girls. I'm constantly thinking about how broken I would be if she were enslaved. At the same time though, I have a baby boy, and I can tell you now if he was harmed in any way, you wouldn't want to see the mama bear that I turn in to. We just cannot let ourselves be entertained by the very sins that sent Jesus to the cross.

Yes, ladies, it IS sin. Adultery is a sin. Matthew 5:28 says, "But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust in his eye has already committed adultery with her in his heart." This goes for us too, ladies. Lust is defined in the Bible as an inordinate (excessive) desire or craving. I'm going to guess that if you're seeing the movie "Magic Mike" for the third time you've begun to crave it. Likewise, if you're flying through chapter after chapter, staying up all hours of the night to read "50 Shades of Gray", there's probably some lusting going on there.

Instead of fostering the "equal rights" mentality on this issue, why aren't more women, or more importantly, churches, taking a stand against it? God has called us to be in the world, but not of the world. Romans 12:2 says, "Do not copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is." The devil loves nothing more than for the daughters of the King of Kings to become tangled up in this kind of evil. C'mon ladies, the saying, "everyone is doing it" is so out of style.

Think it's no big deal? These are his schemes and his battle plan. We are in a war, and we give new strength and weapons to the enemy when we willingly play alongside him in his games. Ephesians 6:12 says, "For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms." We are not just taking a stand against Hollywood, but against the evil forces behind the secular world. Verse 13 goes on to say, "Use every piece of God's armor to resist the enemy in the time of evil, so that after the battle you will be standing firm." We need to put on the belt of TRUTH, the breastplate of RIGHTEOUSNESS, sandals of PEACE, the shield of FAITH, the helmet of SALVATION, and wield the sword of the SPIRIT (God's Word). That means STANDING UP AGAINST things of this nature and speaking the TRUTH about God's Word on these issues. Sure, it won't be popular, but we aren't called to be man-pleasers. I don't know about you, but I don't want to spend my life trying to please man and then stand before my Creator to find out that I wasn't pleasing to Him in the least. You cannot be a man-pleaser AND a God-pleaser.

Anyway, those are just a few of my thoughts. I would encourage you to read this post here. Also, link to the original source and read what she has to say! Bold as a lioness, she is!

What's Your Confession?

This morning I was scrolling through Facebook...OK, I'm guilty...but an article caught my eye, and though I did not read it, God instantly spoke to me. The article was something about college students dropping out because of their social anxiety. I immediately related..."Maybe I have social anxiety," I thought. My mind went to all the times when I've felt awkward, uncomfortable, and even anxious in a crowd setting. But just like that, it hit me. I felt the Lord say to me, "Of all the things I call you in my Word, anxious , is not one of them." Loved. Chosen. Saved. Child of God. Not once does the Lord call us or label us with those words we have somehow, almost lovingly, welcomed and accepted as a banner for our identity. In fact, all through the Bible He tells us not to fear, be courageous, and be anxious for nothing. My mind raced through all the times, some even recently, that I felt like I was somehow being brave in sharing open-heartedly and trans...

The Gift of Solitude

I received a phone call this afternoon from my husband. He called to inform me of an appointment I have this Saturday morning. An appointment HE set up for ME. He called to tell me that he scheduled a relaxation massage for me, and following that a manicure. Um..ladies?! Is that not one of the best surprises ever? We're getting down to the final days before we leave for the Southern U.S. for Christmas, and I have a TON to do. Between list-making, cleaning, laundry (which he's done ALL of), and packing, I really have no time to be unmotivated. However, here I am. Procrastinating. I'm the world's best!  Scott knows how stressful the last couple of days before a trip can be for me. So, he decided to make sure to schedule me some time of solitude. I get a spa day, and he takes the kids for the day. THE. BEST. All you moms out there, you know what the gift of solitude is like for you. HEAVEN. It doesn't have to be a spa day, or shopping day, or anything like that at a...

Daddy Dates & Mommy Dates

Daddy Dates. Mommy Dates. They're incredibly anticipated in the Wright household. Once a week, or at least twice a month, Scott takes Olivia on what we call a "Daddy Date". He usually plans the date, and they go somewhere for a couple of hours for alone time with just the two of them. We first read about these on a blog from Pastor Ed Young and loved the idea! I think Scott first started doing them with Olivia when I was pregnant with Judah. We knew things were going to soon change in our house. Our "princess" and only child was going to go from the center of attention to having to share that spotlight with a new baby! We desperately wanted to start implementing special time with just her and Scott, and on other occasions just her and me (Mommy Dates). If you have kids you know how important quality time together is. I would encourage anyone not already doing so to pull out your calendar and start planning some quality, alone time together with your child. Ol...
